After a long and rigorous search, Puna Community Medical Center announced it has hired Edward K. Murphy to serve as its new executive director and lead the clinic into its expansion phase.
Murphy has 20 years of experience in public health administration, most recently as administrative manager for the Riverside County Community Health Agency in California, where he conducted the development of major county facility construction projects from beginning to end.
This experience will be especially useful as PCMC moves forward to build its long-awaited free-standing emergency room — a first step in the development of a comprehensive medical center.
Murphy also has created the programs and evaluation tools for clinics, was practice manager for the University of California at San Francisco Department of Opthamology and operations manager for the Foundation Department of UCSF, and other health administration positions.
